Must Read

Please take the time to read this letter regarding the Idaho Plumbing Code, written by Kenny Calkins, TVMPA President, as it clearly states the Treasure Valley Master Plumbers Association’s stand on this issue.  The letter was written to the Idaho State Senate Commerce and Human Resources Committee, urging them to pass the bill into law in a vote.

TVMPA letter to Idaho State Commerce and Human Resources Committee

Attention Fellow Contractors

We would like to update you on the progress of the proposed Idaho State Plumbing Code which is up for vote in the Idaho Senate Commerce and Human Resources Committee on Wednesday April 6th at 1:00 PM.The bill for this proposal is listed as HB256 and this is important legislation for the Idaho Plumbing industry! We need the help of plumbers in the industry, like you, to help ensure its passage. We will show you what to do on this web site.

The new Idaho Plumbing Code is based on the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and Idaho’s amendments to it, all integrated into a convenient single publication that includes amendments and updates. There are also some changes in this code just as there always are in a new edition.

The new code is the result of 3 years of the combined efforts of the Idaho Plumbing Board, the Idaho Department of Building Safety (DBS), and IAPMO, author of the UPC code that Idaho Plumbers currently use. Volunteers from within the Idaho plumbing industry, including a few TVMPA members, have spent many hours in, reviewing, editing and combining the codes.

The TVMPA supports HB256 because the adoption of the Idaho Plumbing Code at this time is our best opportunity to combine the UPC and Idaho amendments into one book for convenience. We also feel that it will solidify the UPC code’s position in Idaho and make the change to a new code less likely.
